After relocating to New York City in 2015, Ben Tiberio, now an international presence, has gained recognition as a leading voice on bass for his generation. He has performed at premier NYC venues such as Lincoln Center’s Dizzy’s Club, Smalls Jazz Club, Smoke Jazz Club and the Jazz Gallery, as well as many jazz festivals across the US and abroad. In addition to being a versatile instrumentalist, he is also an accomplished composer, and has been awarded by ASCAP for his work. Ben has extensive experience abroad; In the summer of 2014, he attended the International Association of Schools of Jazz conference in Cape Town, South Africa, led by acclaimed saxophonist David Liebman, as well as the Banff International Workshop in Jazz and Creative Music in Alberta, Canada, led by pianist-composer Vijay Iyer. His talents have taken him to countries across five different continents, and he has performed, collaborated and/or recorded with many of today’s most notable jazz artists, including Danilo Perez, Donny McCaslin, Kenny Barron, Herlin Riley, Terell Stafford, Gretchen Parlato, Jazzmeia Horn, Ben Wendel, Ari Hoenig, Joel Ross, Brian Lynch, Tyshawn Sorey, Will Vinson, Chad Lefkowitz-Brown, Johnathan Blake, and Aaron Goldberg. Born and raised in Rochester, New York, Ben received his bachelor’s degree in jazz performance from the University of Miami on full tuition scholarship, and has attended the Manhattan School of Music and California Institute the Arts for graduate studies.
